PhD Seminar on Blended Learning Held at JUST

The Department of English at Jashore University of Science and Technology (JUST) successfully organized the PhD seminar on “Shifting to Blended Learning at the Tertiary Level in Bangladesh: Problems and Prospects” on November 29, 2025. The seminar took place at 11:00 AM in the Seminar Library of the Department of English.

The seminar was presented by Ms. Sadia Sultana, PhD Fellow of the Department of English under the supervision of Dr. Md. Munibur Rahman, Associate Professor, and Dr. Md. Abdullah Al Mamun, Associate Professor, Department of English, JUST. The session was chaired by Dr. Farzana Nasrin, Chair of the Department of English.

In her presentation, the researcher critically examined the ongoing shift toward blended learning in Bangladeshi tertiary education. The discussion focused on the current state of blended learning practices in universities, institutional readiness, technological and infrastructural challenges, and pedagogical issues faced by both teachers and students. The seminar also highlighted policy-level concerns and future prospects of blended learning in line with the vision of Digital Bangladesh and global educational trends

Following the presentation, an interactive discussion session was held where faculty members and fellow researchers offered constructive feedback. Key suggestions included refining the conceptual framework, strengthening methodological alignment, clarifying sampling and data analysis procedures, and expanding the review of global blended learning models. The feedback was aimed at enhancing the academic rigor and overall direction of the research

The seminar concluded with appreciation for the researcher’s efforts and reaffirmed the department’s commitment to supporting quality research in contemporary areas of English language teaching and learning.
